The Pilgrim Bulldog was manufactured
by the same company which produced the Sumo Cobra replica. With 1930's
British retro as a base concept, the early cars were designed around the
Morris Marina but in later years a Ford based model was offered.
"The bulldog offers the enthusiast the opportunity of owning and driving a
distinctive, stylish sports car with graceful lines reminiscent of many
classic british sports cars from the 1930's era. By using traditional
styling principles coupled with modern engineering techniques and
materials, the bulldog captures the spirit of post war motoring and has an
individual, speedy, eye catching character all of it's own.
Pilgrim kits are designed for ease of assembly and as such they can be
assembled without specialist tool. All the tools required should be owned
by a person who has done routine maintenance on their own vehicles.
Any Morris Marina or Ital can be used. Except those with the 1700cc 'O'
series engine, only because pilgrim never tried to make one. Any model
will do including estate, coupe, saloon, van or pick-up with manual or
automatic transmission. This gives the builder the option of 1100cc,
1300cc, 1800cc or 1800cc twin carb power options.
When selecting your donor car look for one with all the features you want
your finished car to end up with all the features you want your finished
car to end up with. Remember that all marina's are not fitted with
discbrakes, alternator, pre engaged starter or servo assisted brakes, and
also other features like rev counter dials and inertin reel seat belts.
When looking for a donor car look for a mechanically sound car which has a
body that is well beyond economical repair. When inspecting any
prospective donor pay particular attention to the gearbox as the
syncromesh is particularly liable to failure. Always bear in mind that
when dismantling the donor vehicle that the parts you remove are going to
be used again so it is important to familiarise yourself where those parts
came from to save yourself money if need replaced.
